about

The title "This Is Tokyo" is derived from the children's author, Miroslav Sasek (1916-1980) and his entire "This Is..." book series that I adored as a child.
It is believed that he was working on "This Is Tokyo" before the time of his death, but it never saw completion and/or never saw the light of day.
This album title is in homage to the great artist who still inspires me.

***

This album comprises the 3rd of a series of EP's which I've arbitrarily dubbed 'the January trilogy'.
(1. Making Things = morning, 2. This is Tokyo = afternoon, and 3. Botanical Garden = night, obviously.)

There will be a full-length album later this year.

Please come join me in the hinterlands...
hinterlands...

Track Name: Squishy Times
Swiping seashells
(from tourists' hands)
Taking pictures
(of foreign lands)
Run right home and back.
You might miss the tide.

These are the squishy times.
Ride them down the line.

Polish daylight
(with all your strength)
Find a new word
(for what you meant)
Run right home and back.
You might miss the tide.

These are the squishy times.
Ride them down the line.
